KITS Volunteers: The Best Gift
Updated: Jan 14, 2021
The annual Kids in the Spotlight Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Party was held last Saturday night at Warner Bros. Knowledge Center. Hosted by KITS Executive Director Tige Charity in association with BE@WB (Black Employees at Warner Bros.), the celebration was an opportunity for KITS to give back to those who so unselfishly lend their hands and hearts all year round. From fundraising to production, volunteers are vital to the daily operation of KITS.

In addition to a tasty catered spread by Chef Yolondo, volunteers were treated to a surprise performance by the Amani Youth Choir from Uganda. The youngsters ages 7-13 are on the first leg of a 9-month tour in the states. Those in attendance were rapt as the youngster's harmonies filled the room during their energetic performance of Christmas carols and faith-filled praise songs. The evening was rounded out by a raucous White Elephant gift exchange.

Among the celebrants were several members of longtime community partner groups BE@WB and BEN (Black Employees Network/NBCUniversal). The groups are instrumental in KITS's Spring and Summer programs. Also in attendance were KITS Awards Show volunteers, as well as the show's producers, and KITS ambassadors, instructors, and directors. The Kids in the Spotlight Board of Directors was represented by Board President Gregory Metzger, Roceania Williams, Chris Bess and Yvette Bess.
