Kids In The Spotlight
KITS Rocks Top Spot at Shiver Shorts Film Fest
Updated: Jan 14, 2021
While film festivals serve as the primary showcase for short films, the fierce competition for screen time prohibits most shorts from ever reaching the eyes of audiences and potential distributors. Which is why Kids in the Spotlight's recent Best Drama win at the Shiver International Film Festival is all the more amazing.

"Parallel," explores double standards when sexual misconduct occurs at a high school. The powerful and timely film, written by Ruth Arnold, Baiinga Bangura, Santiago Chavez, and Nelcit Lopez, stars Corey Feldman, Scott Deckert, Bella Opa, Breana Raquel, Aliyah Moulden and Santiago Chavez.
Veteran director and longtime KITS Ambassador David Mahmoudieh turns in a stark yet stunning work that features a breakout performance by Chavez that earned him a Best Actor nom.
Shiver International Film Festival is the premier shorts exhibition in Canada. Our thanks to the judges who found merit in the work of our students. Kids in the Spotlight is dedicated to bringing awareness to important topics such as this by providing a platform for the brave youth who live these realities daily.
Congratulations to all of our young filmmakers. You continue to prove that foster care does not define you.
