KITS Film "Bully" Selected by Chicago’s Black Harvest Film Festival

Screenwriting Competition Winner Rodney Jackson-Brown to Attend In Person

2020 KITS National Short Screenplay Competition winner Bully is an official selection at Chicago’s prestigious Black Harvest Film Festival.

Directed in 2021 by David Mahmoudieh, Bully is a semi-autobiographical story written by and starring Rodney Jackson-Brown. The film focuses on a lonely teen from a troubled home who is pushed past his breaking point when a bully ruins his chance to take his crush to prom. Terry Crews and Ariel Winter co-star.

The 28th annual Black Harvest Film Festival, taking place November 4-27, 2022, is Chicago’s annual showcase for films that celebrate, explore and share the Black, African American and African Diaspora experience. The Festival curates both short and feature-length films, proudly presenting influential auteurs and emerging filmmakers of color side by side. Each year since 1994, the Festival has presented a vibrant celebration of independent films that tell the stories and explore the images, heritage, and history of the worldwide Black experience.

Bully, which will screen on Saturday, November 19, is featured on the festival’s landing page.

Jackson-Brown will attend the festival in person, courtesy of Kids In The Spotlight, accompanied by KITS Youth Advocate Specialist Samuel “Joey” Alleyne. Film director David Mahmoudieh and producer George Lako (both KITS Ambassadors) will also be in attendance along with producer Annalea Fiachi.
